Due to the financial giants’ stellar start to the third-quarter earnings season, the S&P 500 edged higher on Friday morning and was on track for a fifth straight winning week.
Although the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.4%, the broad index increased by 0.1%. Of 0.4%, or 175 points, were added to the Dow Jones Industrial Average. With the S&P 500 and the Dow 30 equities retreating from their record highs on Thursday, stocks had a negative day.
With the S&P 500 up 0.5% and on track for a fifth straight week of gains, the main averages are set for a successful week despite these losses.
Out of the three, the Nasdaq has performed best, up 0.8%, while the Dow has gained 0.2%.
