The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 surged to all-time highs on Friday, capping a positive week in which banking giants heralded a positive start to the third-quarter fiscal year.
Although the Dow finished at 42,863.86, up 409.74 points, or 0.97%, the broad index gained 0.61% to close at 5,815.03. Following record closings, both averages reached new all-time highs.
Finishing at 18,342.94, less than 2% off its all-time high, the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.33%. The market is expanding, head of Amundi US’s U.S. stock research. “I think you’re seeing it hit pretty hard today, in a good way.”
