Concerned that the tech corporations are trying to “censor speech” in the United States, House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, subpoenaed eight of them to obtain more details about their communications with foreign governments.
The subpoenas were sent on Wednesday to the CEOs of X and the video platform Rumble, as well as Google parent company Alphabet, Meta, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, and TikTok.
“It is imperative that the Committee comprehend the manner and degree to which foreign governments have restricted Americans’ freedom of speech in the United States, as well as the degree to which the Biden-Harris Administration supported or encouraged these actions,” Jordan said in a statement.
