Microsoft Users Experience a “Blue Screen of Death” Following a Significant Outage

The “blue screen of death” is an error screen that Microsoft users encounter all across the world in the midst of ongoing, extensive computer disruptions.

A significant IT disruption was caused by an update from cybersecurity company CrowdStrike that affected the massive American tech company. Numerous additional businesses have also been impacted.

A recent update to the CrowdStrike Falcon Sensor software has resulted in an issue with Windows 365 Cloud PCs, which Microsoft has acknowledged on its 365 Status X account.

The notice referred impacted customers to certain webpages with instructions on how to “restore their Windows 365 Cloud PC to a known good state prior to the release of the update (July 19, 2024)”.

Users may experience a bug check, also referred to as the blue screen of death, or BSOD, “and get stuck in a restarting state,” according to a separate update from Microsoft.
