The final week of September began with the S&P 500 rising on Monday, following a month marked by significant losses.
Indicator as a whole increased 0.4% to 4,337.44. With a final value of 13,271.32, the Nasdaq Composite ended 0.45% higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 34.006.88 points (0.13%), or 43.04 points. Every single one of the three major averages ended four-day losing streaks.
The yield on the 10-year Treasury note most recently increased by 10 basis points to 4.542%, which was its highest level since 4.57% in 2007.
The majority of stocks ignored changes in the bond market. The 30-stock index’s top performer was chemical giant Dow, which increased 1.7% following a JPMorgan upgrade. Energy led the gains, up 1.3%, outperforming the other eight S&P 500 sectors, which were all in the black.
