New Apps will Include your Health Records. This is the Reason

Patients in the United States will soon have far easier access to their own medical records.

Epic Systems, a provider of health-care software, revealed on Thursday that people would have more direct control over their medical information than ever before as they will be able to safely share their health data to any app they desire.

Patients may choose to import their records straight into applications that they use, such as those that serve as health coaches or medication reminders.

All they want are the login credentials that they use to access Epic. This seemingly straightforward achievement actually represents a significant technology advance for the healthcare industry and marks the start of new national standards for data-sharing procedures.

The Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement, or TEFCA, was established by the federal government with assistance from a number of organisations, including Epic.

Its goal, when it debuted in December, was to work out the technological and legal conditions for large-scale patient data sharing.
