The company’s most recent attempt to increase the usage of its well-liked chatbot, OpenAI unveiled a new AI model and desktop version of ChatGPT on Monday along with an overhauled user interface.
In a livestreamed event, OpenAI’s technical leader Mira Murati stated that the upgrade brings GPT-4 to all users, including those who are using it for free. The latest model, GPT-4o, she continued, is “much faster” and has better text, video, and audio capabilities.
Investors have placed a valuation of almost $80 billion on OpenAI, which is supported by Microsoft. Having invested large sums of money in infrastructure and processors to develop and train its models, the 2015-founded business is under pressure to maintain its leadership position in the generative AI sector while figuring out how to turn a profit.
