Monday saw a recovery in stocks as investors expressed optimism that the Israeli-Iranian crisis may be contained.
The increase in oil prices brought on by the intensifying conflict also subsided.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 1.2%, or 507 points.
The Nasdaq Composite jumped 1.6%, and the S&P 500 likewise increased 1.2%. WTI crude oil futures, which had been trading above $77 during the overnight session, dropped more than 4% to $69.81 a barrel.
Following Israel’s attack on Iran on Friday, traders have been keeping a careful eye on the Middle East. In return, Iran fired missiles, intensifying the regional crisis.
