Stocks plunged dramatically on Thursday as a tech surge that was fueled by better-than-anticipated Nvidia results fizzled out. Traders also prepared for Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s important address.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended the day at 34,099.42, down 373.56 points or 1.08%. The S&P 500 dropped 1.35% to close at 4,376.31 on the day. To 13,463.97, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite fell 1.87%.
The Dow saw its worst day since March on Thursday. Since August 2, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq experienced their largest one-day losses.
