The S&P 500 remained largely unchanged on Monday amid increasing skepticism that the U.S. and Iran will reach a lasting resolution to their ongoing conflict in the near future.
The broad market index traded near flat, while the Nasdaq Composite edged down by 0.1%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by 61 points, also down 0.1%.
Intel was among the session’s notable laggards, dropping 3% after announcing plans to offer $15 billion in common stock.
Meanwhile, Iran reported progress in negotiations with Oman to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. However, Tehran continues to resist direct talks with the U.S. until certain conditions are met.
