S&P 500 and Nasdaq Futures Climb Ahead of Fed Decision; Oil Prices Rise

Early Wednesday, futures for the S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 moved slightly higher as investors keep an eye on rising oil prices and the upcoming Federal Reserve interest rate decision.

Both benchmark futures increased by 0.2%. Meanwhile, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures declined by 106 points, or 0.2%.

Oil prices surged by 4.7%, with West Texas Intermediate crude trading around $82.93 per barrel, after U.S. Central Command announced that Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces launched multiple ballistic missiles in what was described as a surprise attack on U.S. forces in the Middle East. The missiles were successfully intercepted, according to Centcom.

Investors are also awaiting the Federal Reserve’s decision on interest rates and a press conference with Chairman Kevin Warsh scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
