Schumacher will Resign as CEO of Unilever after Less Than Two Years in Office

The company announced on Tuesday that Unilever CEO Hein Schumacher is leaving after less than two years in the position.

Current CFO Fernando Fernandez will take over as CEO. The consumer goods giant’s makeover was Schumacher’s responsibility when he took over in July 2023.

He will step down as CEO and board director in March and depart the firm on May 31. The consumer goods company, he is leaving on mutual consent.

On March 1, Fernandez’s new position will go into effect. Unilever stated that this announcement had no bearing on the company’s medium-term guidance or its outlook for 2025.

The stock was down about 1.6% by 12:29 p.m. London time.

“I would like to thank Hein on behalf of the Board for resetting Unilever’s strategy, for the discipline and focus he brought to the company, and for the solid financial progress delivered during 2024,” said Ian Meakins, chairman of Unilever.
