A few hundred customers were excitedly waiting for the grand launch of an Amazon Fresh grocery in a Philadelphia suburb on a steamy August afternoon.
A banana costumer got the audience excited, and free samples of cold brew coffee were distributed by Amazon employees. The occasion had been long overdue.
The Fresh shop in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, seems to be set to operate since 2022. However, it remained empty for month after month, with the well-known smiling logo of Amazon emblazoned on a sign that overlooked a deserted parking lot.
