The market experienced a slight decline on Monday, with key technology stocks leading the downturn despite a decrease in Treasury yields.
The broad market index dropped by 0.28%, closing at 7,652.86.
The Nasdaq Composite fell more significantly, decreasing by 0.76% to 25,980.19, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose slightly, gaining 140.15 points, or 0.26%, to finish at 53,417.16.
The decline was notably driven by weakness in chip stocks.
Micron Technology dropped over 5%, and both Advanced Micro Devices and Broadcom declined by 3% and 2%, respectively.
The semiconductor sector ETF also slid by 2%.
Other technology stocks also saw declines, with Coherent and Lumentum falling 4% each, Sandisk dropping 6%, and Seagate Technology decreasing by 6%. Additionally, Corning moved down 3%.
