The S&P 500 increased on Wednesday amid a subdued U.S. inflation report and gains in the technology sector, driven by artificial intelligence companies like CoreWeave and Super Micro Computer.
The broad market index rose 0.26%, closing at 7,748.50, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.54% to finish at 26,588.49.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average inched down 0.04%, ending the day at 53,770.27.
July’s consumer price index met expectations, with overall prices rising 0.1% for the month and the annual inflation rate holding steady at 3.4%.
The core CPI, which excludes food and energy, increased 0.2% last month and 2.5% over the year. Both measures showed a slight decline from June.
