After reaching its highest closing of the year on Thursday, the S&P 500 increased marginally on Friday as investors anticipated new inflation data that would be released next week as well as the Federal Reserve’s most recent policy statement.
The Nasdaq Composite increased by 0.5% while the overall market index increased by 0.2%. With a decline of 30 points, or 0.1%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average underperformed.
The S&P 500 was up 0.5% for the week, on pace for its fourth consecutive weekly gain. The index would then have its longest winning streak since August. The Nasdaq was also up roughly 0.5%, on track to make its eighth consecutive gain.
