Even though stocks made a small gain on Friday, they still had a losing week due to increased concerns that the Federal Reserve would hike interest rates more than anticipated.
To end a three-day losing run and close at 4,457.49, the S&P 500 eked out a 0.14% gain. The Nasdaq Composite only managed a 0.09% increase to finish at 13,761.53 while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 75.86 points, or 0.22%, to close at 34,576.59.
A losing week was likewise concluded by major averages. For their first down week in three, the S&P and Nasdaq each fell 1.3% and 1.9%. The Dow ended down roughly 0.8%.
