The S&P 500 remained largely stable on Monday as investor optimism about artificial intelligence was balanced against ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
The index edged down by 0.1%, while the Nasdaq Composite hovered around break even. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by 156 points, or 0.3%.
Micron Technology led the gains, climbing over 4%. Last week, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told The Wall Street Journal that the Trump administration does not support Apple’s plans to purchase memory chips from China.
Additionally, Bloomberg reported that Anthropic’s second-quarter revenue exceeded $11.5 billion significantly higher than the previous year.
Other chip stocks, including Broadcom and Nvidia, also saw gains.
