Stocks increased on Monday to start the last trading week of August, helped by advances in technology.
245 points, or 0.7%, were added to the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The Nasdaq Composite gained 1%, while the S&P 500 increased by 0.5%.
Favourite tech company Tesla increased 1.5%, making up some of its losses from August. The stock has lost 9% so far this month. Also higher were Meta, Microsoft, and Alphabet.
Late in August, as tech struggles to regain its footing, those actions are made. Only materials have performed worse than the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) thus far among 11 peers. But the situation might be changing as a result of chipmaker Nvidia’s second straight blowout earnings report.
