On Tuesday, the first trading day of the week, stocks declined as a rally that had pushed the market to heights not seen in more than a year paused.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased to 34,053.87 by 245.25 points, or 0.72%. In comparison to the Nasdaq Composite, which fell 0.16% to 13,667.29, the S&P 500 fell 0.47% to 4,388.71.
Due to the holiday on Juneteenth, markets were closed on Monday.
