As Wall Street struggled to maintain its strong momentum from the previous week, stocks declined on Tuesday.
Due to the Juneteenth holiday, markets were closed on Monday.
Investors had a successful week despite Friday’s decline in the main averages. Both the broad-market benchmark S&P 500 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite had its best weekly results since March. The broad-market benchmark increased by 2.6%, and the tech-heavy index increased by 3.25%. The Nasdaq experienced its eighth straight week of gains, a feat it previously did in 2019. The S&P 500 also experienced its fifth consecutive week of gains, a first since November 2021.
