During an all-hands meeting with employees in November 2023, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was posed with a question about the possibility of the company following in the footsteps of Apple and Disney by halting its advertising on X due to escalating levels of antisemitism and hate speech on the platform.
Earlier that same month, X owner Elon Musk had voiced agreement with a post on the site that implicated “Jewish communities” in inciting “hatred against whites.” In response, several major corporations, including Disney and Apple, promptly suspended their ad campaigns.
Reportedly, Huang’s response at the meeting was resolute yet diplomatic, as insiders who requested anonymity due to a lack of authorization to speak to the media revealed.
Huang indicated that Nvidia had refrained from advertising on X for quite some time and had no immediate plans to do so. Despite this stance, he made it clear that Nvidia would refrain from publicly denouncing another business.
Not addressed in Huang’s remarks at the time was any mention of Nvidia’s growing connection with Musk’s business empire.
