Shortly after the market started on Tuesday, trading in a number of equities on the New York Stock Exchange was temporarily suspended owing to what appeared to be a technical problem.
According to the NYSE website, the major equities affected included Morgan Stanley, Verizon, AT&T, Nike, and McDonald’s. Numerous equities were seen to have very big opening day swings, which could have led to volatility halts.
On “Squawk on the Street,” CNBC’s Bob Pisani stated that the problem seems to be a technical one rather than something that occurred on the trade floor.
Before 9:45 a.m. ET, trade had resumed by many of the affected companies. At around 9:50 a.m., the NYSE said that all of its systems were working. CNBC has contacted the NYSE for further information regarding.
