Tuesday’s increase in Nvidia shares helped the S&P 500 rise as new data showed that inflation for June had increased.
The Nasdaq Composite increased 0.8%, while the broad market index increased 0.5%. 107 points, or 0.2%, were taken off the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
Dow Jones consensus poll, the consumer price index rose 0.3% in June, bringing the annual inflation rate to 2.7%.
Food and energy prices are not included in the so-called core CPI, which increased by 0.2% month over month, which was marginally less than anticipated. It grew at 2.9% annually, which was in line with projections.
