As investors processed huge bank profits and the most recent U.S. inflation data, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite was supported by a surge in Nvidia’s stock.
Having risen from a new record high earlier in the day, the S&P 500 fell 0.1%. The Dow’s 30-stock index dropped 313 points, or 0.5%.
the Nasdaq rose 0.5%. The headline results were in line with predictions, but the June inflation data, which was issued Tuesday, showed an increase over May inflation levels.
