The S&P 500 Hits a Historic Low, the Nasdaq Declines, and Nvidia Leads Semiconductor Stocks South

Stocks took a break from the rise that had sent them to all-time highs.

0.2%, or 79 points, were taken off the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Both the Nasdaq Composite and the S&P 500 had a 0.3% and 0.7% decline.

Nvidia, Broadcom, and other chip stocks fell to their lowest points of the day following an 11% decline in ASML, a Dutch manufacturer of semiconductor equipment.

The CEO of the company stated that a “recovery is more gradual than previously expected” and cautioned that consumers are becoming “cautious.”

After the firm lowered its full-year earnings outlook, UnitedHealth saw a 7% decline. Bank of America had a slight increase of 3% due to better-than-expected results.
