The S&P 500 Modestly Increases as it Attempts to Bounce back from Consecutive Losses

Tuesday saw a modest increase in US stocks as traders attempted to continue the upward trend that had brought stocks to all-time highs following the previous session’s selloff.

The S&P 500 saw a 0.3% increase. The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 47 points, or 0.1%, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.5%.

By Monday’s end, all three main averages were down. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite both declined by about 0.3%, while the 30-stock Dow fell by 0.4%. The Dow and S&P 500 had lost for the second straight day.

All the same, the main averages are headed for their fifth consecutive month of winning. Over 2% has been gained by the broad market index in March. The Dow is up 0.8% during this time, while the Nasdaq Composite is up 1.8%.
