The S&P 500 Surpasses 5,000 Once More and Advances for a Fifth Week Due to Positive Inflation News

Stocks saw an escalation on Friday following the government’s announcement of December’s inflation data, which was lower than initially estimated. The S&P 500 surged above the significant 5,000 level, showing strong momentum after briefly hitting this historic milestone the previous day.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average experienced a slight decline of 7 points, while the S&P 500 recorded a modest 0.1% increase. The Nasdaq Composite performed even better, registering a 0.3% gain. Over the course of the week, the S&P 500 exhibited a 0.9% uptick, with the Dow Jones and Nasdaq Composite also showing gains of 0.2% and 1.4%, respectively.
