Stocks were barely changed Monday as Wall Street braced for a hectic earnings week and sought to end July on a good note.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average remained near its lows, but the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also climbed slightly.
Stocks have risen this month, with the S&P 500 up 3% and on track for its fifth positive month in a row for the first time since a seven-month string that ended in August 2021. The Nasdaq Composite has gained 3.9% year to date and is on course for its fifth consecutive month of gains.
In July, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 3.1%. Last Friday, the index scored a 13-day rise, matching its best winning stretch since 1987.
