Humane, an AI hardware business created by ex-Apple designers, is looking into a potential sale after its main product, AI Pin, failed to garner market interest.
The company is currently in discussions with many potential purchasers, including HP and a number of telecom companies. Humane has hired Tidal Partners, an investment bank, to advise on the potential transaction.
The startup’s AI Pin, which is worn on the lapel, was marketed as a revolutionary device that could replace a user’s smartphone by allowing them to make calls, send texts, and conduct searches using voice commands.
Despite its appealing premise, the AI Pin’s underwhelming launch has raised questions about its feasibility. The AI Pin cost $699.
