At the Beginning of a Truncated Trading Week, Stock Futures Climb

As investors waited for news on the international trade front in Washington, U.S. stock futures increased early Tuesday to begin a shorter trading week.

Dow Jones Industrial Average futures saw a 0.1% gain of 27 points. Futures for the Nasdaq-100 and S&P 500 increased by 0.4% and 0.3%, respectively.

For the main averages, Wall Street is coming off a positive week. The S&P 500 ended the week up 1.5%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained about 0.6%.

The NYSE Composite increased 2.6%. Thursday saw a large portion of last week’s gain as investors were reassured that President Donald Trump’s proposal for reciprocal tariffs on nations that impose levies on American exports would not be more onerous.
