In an indication that the software could soon be available for its devices, Samsung Electronics unveiled a new generative artificial intelligence model on Wednesday.
OpenAI, supported by Microsoft, and ChatGPT, which debuted last year, popularised generative AI and spurred a competition for dominance amongst the largest tech companies in the world. Large language models, which are trained on massive volumes of data, are the foundation of generative AI.
Samsung said that their Gauss technology is intended for AI applications on mobile devices.
As per Samsung, the AI model bears the name of Carl Friedrich Gauss, the renowned mathematician who founded normal distribution theory, which forms the foundation of machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Samsung Gauss Language, a generative language model, is one of the AI system’s many functions. It can translate material, help create emails, and “improve the consumer experience by allowing smarter device control when incorporated into devices.”
Thirdly, Samsung Gauss Image may be used to create or modify images, while the second capability helps internal software developers write code more quickly.
In a news release on Wednesday, Samsung stated that while Gauss is now used to track employee productivity, it will soon be extended to a number of Samsung product applications to offer new user experiences.
