Ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s second term in office, Meta announced to its staff on Friday that it intends to discontinue several internal initiatives aimed at increasing the company’s hiring of diverse applicants.
It was announced on Meta’s internal communications platform, Workplace, by Janelle Gale, vice president of people.
One of the adjustments is that Meta will no longer be using the “Diverse Slate Approach,” which involves selecting competent applicants from under-represented groups for available positions.
The corporation is discontinuing its equity and inclusion training programs as well as its diversity supplier program.
Meta Chief Diversity Officer Maxine Williams will take on a new position centred on accessibility and engagement, and the company’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) team will be disbanded. Several Meta staff members criticised the new regulation in their comments on Gale’s piece.
