A group of House Democrats is calling on the leaders of OpenAI, Anthropic, and other major AI companies to testify before Congress following a series of hacking incidents they say pose serious risks to Americans’ safety and security.
In a letter, the lawmakers criticized Congress for not taking sufficient action to address the threats associated with AI development.
They emphasized the need for change, stating that the CEOs of major AI firms should answer questions under oath and that the public should have the chance to hear from independent experts about the potential dangers of this technology.
