The cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike released an upgrade that had a bug that caused outages in a number of worldwide IT systems on Friday, affecting everything from banks to airlines.

Television broadcasters fell out, banks and healthcare institutions experienced service disruptions, and businesses around the globe struggled with the continuous outage.

Aircraft grounded and services delayed are two more major effects on air travel. Texas-based cybersecurity provider CrowdStrike is at the centre of the problem.
