Businesses throughout the world were dealing with a significant IT outage that continued on Friday, causing disruptions to financial services, doctor’s offices, and TV broadcasts.
In particular, aviation travel has been negatively impacted; as a result, airports have advised travellers and halted aircraft.
Cybersecurity behemoth CrowdStrike reported to NBC that a problem with its most recent software upgrade caused a significant interruption earlier on Friday.
President and CEO George Kurtz of the business has now clarified that Mac and Linux hosts are unaffected and stated that the business is “actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts.”
This does not qualify as a cyberattack or security incident. A solution has been implemented, and the problem has been located and isolated,” he posted on Twitter the media.
Microsoft announced on Friday that it has recovered from an outage affecting its cloud services, despite numerous users still reporting problems.
