On Sunday evening, U.S. stock futures surged as Wall Street began a shortened Thanksgiving trading week. Markets close early on Friday and are closed on Thursday for Thanksgiving.
Future prices for the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 221 points, or 0.5%. S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures both saw 0.4% gains.
Following a successful week, the postelection rally has resumed its upward trajectory for the major averages.
The 30-stock Dow closed at a record close after gaining about 2% last week. Both the Nasdaq Composite and the broad market index increased by roughly 1.7% in the meantime. During the week, the small-cap Russell 2000 saw a 4.5% increase.
