On Thursday, Amazon unveiled its first quantum computer chip, claiming that its architecture will enable the corporation to create incredibly effective hardware.
As more tech companies highlight their quantum achievements, Ocelot, the processor, was announced. Amazon cloud competitor Microsoft unveiled its first quantum processor last week.
This week, Amazon followed Microsoft’s example of publishing a paper detailing its quantum work in the journal Nature.
Some technologists believe that quantum computers will be able to solve issues that traditional computers are unable to handle.
PCs and phones use on/off bits to store data and do calculations, whereas quantum computers use qubits, or quantum bits, which can be in both states at once.
