OpenAI CEO Sam Altman told CNBC on Wednesday that he has reviewed the proposed framework for implementing President Donald Trump’s executive order on artificial intelligence. He also mentioned plans to meet with Susie Wiles, the White House chief of staff, during his visit to Washington this week.
Wiles, one of Trump’s closest advisors, is a key figure shaping the administration’s AI policy approach.
Throughout the week, Altman is engaging with various senior Trump administration officials, lawmakers, and economists to discuss OpenAI’s upcoming models, cybersecurity concerns, and the U.S. position in the global AI competition.
Since Trump signed a highly-anticipated executive order in June, the administration has taken a more proactive stance on AI regulation.
The order called for AI companies to voluntarily share their models with the government for evaluation before full deployment, though it lacked many specific details.
