Tuesday saw the S&P 500 remain unchanged as investors awaited important corporate earnings announcements, including those from well-known tech companies.
Even though the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 65 points, or 0.2%, the broad market index only slightly increased by 0.1%.
The Nasdaq Composite added 0.4%, outperforming the market. The quarterly results of Alphabet, Snap, Reddit, Chipotle, and Advanced Micro Devices are all expected to be released following market close.
Microsoft and IT giants Meta Platforms are scheduled to report on Wednesday, and Apple is scheduled to report on Thursday.
Tuesday saw a greater than 1% increase in Meta and Alphabet shares ahead of their quarterly announcements.
