London— Under the strict new competition laws in the UK, the competition watchdog launched its first significant investigation into Google search services on Tuesday.
It is attempting to determine if Google has “strategic market status” Competition and Consumers Act (DMCC) in the United Kingdom.

A company’s designation as “SMS” would grant the regulator the authority to enforce modifications in order to stop anti-competitive conduct.
