Monday saw a 6.5% increase in SK Hynix shares following the company’s announcement of a next-generation memory chip and the parent company’s chair stating that the South Korean semiconductor maker expedited the delivery of a crucial product to Nvidia.
SK Group chair Chey Tae-won told a story during the company’s event on Monday, stating that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang asked him if SK Hynix could advance the supply of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips, known as HBM4, by six months. Chey cited SK Hynix’s then-CEO as saying that it was feasible.
Uncertainty surrounds whether this will change SK Hynix’s production schedule from the second half of 2025 as previously stated.
